Mothership

Still without my laptop. A laid back look appropriate for Friday. As I'm typing my mothership, literally, is landing. She's taking on London for the birth of her first granddaughter. I'm coming, Marmee! Happy Friday!

¡Feliz viernes!

American Pie, really?

I'm getting lazier and lazier as the summer fades. And actually not rambling since "American Pie: naked something" is playing in the background and due to my new current state of laziness I can't concentrate on either thing. American Pie. How low can one go?

American Pie. ¿qué tan bajo se puede caer?

Countdown to Baby Pich

I'ts official. Baby Pich is coming. Very, very soon. I find myself writing down things I want to tell her when she's older and don't want to forget, such as "I survived the cheap statement necklace era, so you can go through anything". I'm thinking of naming it "Baby Pich's Survival Manual" or "Everything you wanted to know and are afraid to ask my sister". These will have special appendixes: "Do not let Zara.com control you" and "Junkfood: myth or fact?". I can't wait to meet her.

Happy weekend!

¡Feliz finde!

Poor pinky

My furniture is obsessed with my pinky toe. Well, to be fair, with all my toes, but it picks on the little one the most. There can be no description for that deep, pungent pain when the corner of a table, bed or other comes straight at you and hits your little guy. Because, I'm sorry, I will never comply to the "You're clumsy, watch where you're going" explanation. Oh no, I have a much deeper conspiracy theory of moving end tables and mean wardrobes. The bullies, they've broken most of my toes. So I'm sorry, I'm sticking to my version.

What is it about distressed shorts and soft shirts that makes me drool?

Short Shorts

I know, where's the rest of my shorts? I bought these old Levi's cut-outs at a vintage store in east London. Thinking, of course, that there's only very few good years ahead of me for wearing such atrocities as my main excuse. Because there will be a time in the future, not so far ahead, where I will reminiscence on the days when my legs and thus, ass, where public to half the city. Even when I was younger and despite my Olive Oil complex, I'd leave home wearing one skirt/short for a party and then change it to a tinier version. You see, I love my dad, one's got to avoid heart attacks. I bet if he'd see me with these shorts there would still be a little grunt of disapproval.

It's always a good day for denim plus denim, huh? At least in my book. Happy Monday!

¡Feliz lunes!

Unrequited Love

There's no other way of calling it: unrequited love. You're infatuated, but completely alone in that so-called relationship and mushy feelings, as the object of your affection will never be yours. Unless, by some fat chance you win the lottery. My new unrequited love segment. Damn it, I'm such a slut.

Grunt

I'm no creative genius, and boy do I have a rollercoaster mood. Some days are just lacking my usual verbal diarrhea, replacing it with a slight grunt of acknowledgement, as long as whoever is demanding attention is talking about food. And on those days I hardly think about anything, least of all what I wear. When that happens, my survival manual calls for avoiding big moves - please - and just stick to whichever blazer-and-jeans combo you can reach.

Crap, Summer is really taking a toll on me.

Long and Slow

A new addition to my already large neutral/earthy palette. August is proving to be long and slow. The perks of having zero vacations. Oh well.

Tartan Overflow

What happens when your favorite pattern all of a sudden is one of the hottest trends for the season and becomes a high-street mass-production? Crap. Dunno, my pessimistic side finds it very disturbing and slightly upsetting. Why, might you ask? Well, for one thing, the "lemming" effect. Oh dear, I can picture it right now. The Zara Skort will mean nothing. Also, my shoppaholic alter-ego is already drooling with lust. It's like crack for me. Just as I'm drawn to white shirts and men with babies. Meanwhile, my credit card shakes with fear. How can I not crumble? Lots of choices. Some will use it for a season, I will treasure them forever. And ever. And ever ever.

I foresee long and hard self-help.

Mucho miedo. ¿Cómo puedo resistirme, no ceder ante tan dulce tentación? Tantas opciones. Muchos sólo usarán para la temporada. Yo lo querré, lo mimaré, lo atesoraré. Por los siglos de los siglos. Y los siglos.

Puedo prever muchas horas de autoayuda.

Welcome to the jungle

I used to have a major crush on Axl Rose. Well, who didn't back then. More than one daydreamed of being Stephanie Seymour on the "November Rain" video, tacky wedding dress included. And excluding the whole dying part, of course. To have Axl french you in front of a priest while Slash sat in the back, nodding and approving. Totally badass. Oh, those were the days.

As you know, I have an obsession with white shirts and neutral palettes. I can bore sometimes with my earthy inspiration. Well, I went this far. I thought at some point a Jeep was going to pick me up to go on an urban safari.

Happy Thursday!

¡Feliz jueves!

Twirl, lilac

I've told you a while ago that when I was a girl I only wanted to wear dresses, and that they had to "model" (way of my 5-year-old self saying I wanted them to twirl). Ironically, I've grown up to be a much less girly girl. although high summer temperatures make me have my moments, like this one. And in lilac, nonetheless.

Happy Wednesday.

Zara - Autumn Winter Campaing 2013/14

It's official. I declare myself a fan - finally - of a lot of trends for Fall. I mean, what's not to love? If you've followed the blog for a while you know my devotion for tartan and how I'm always wearing something plaid during the winter. Throw in other masculine prints and I'm hooked. Pinstripes? Yes, please. I've spent literally the whole afternoon going back and forth on the Zara campaign and I have to say they've nailed it. Hell, they got me wishing for cooler days! And also debating wh ether to get the Mango or Zara pinstriped coat, an in-your-face clone of the star at Stella McCartney. My poor visa, troubled days lie ahead.
